Tonight’s “American Idol” performance by Jordin Sparks of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” was incredible.
The song is by Rodgers & Hammerstein from their 1945 musical “Carousel.” Not my favorite musical, but the song has always been a classic.
I remember a few incredible performances from the years of watching “American Idol” — Fantasia’s “Summertime” and Clay Aiken’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” — but I was awestruck tonight watching Jordin sing. That was an amazing song. No one else on tonight’s show mattered to me and I agree with Simon who said she could have a hit record with it.
I still am impressed that she’s only 17.

Liked her - a lot! But no one comes close to Clay’s “Bridge” - a classic that always brings me to tears!

I agree, Carol. I had to download Clay’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” as soon as I could find it on iTunes. It was a classic Idol moment. Still can’t get over Art Garfunkel’s soaring vocals on the original, though.
