To my way of thinking, there is perhaps no food as divine as bacon. The problem with bacon, of course, is that it comes loaded with fat and calories. Or at least, it did until a couple of Seattle buddies who adore bacon got together to create Baconsalt.
They combined the flavor of bacon into a mixture that combines sea salt with other flavorings to create a calorie-free, fat-free, vegan and kosher seasoning that adherents proclaim tastes just like the real thing.
You can read more about the product in the coming Sunday (May 11) Business section. In the meantime, I’m going to pick up a bottle of the stuff at Albertsons tonight. I’m looking forward to my scrambled egg Wednesday morning. I’ll let you know the verdict.
