On Monday Microsoft launched a free Web-based program (available for download) that gives people access to one of the best virtual telescopes around.
WorldWide Telescope puts together imagines from knits together from the Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-Ray Observatory Center and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, along with other images. The results are, in a word, dazzling. Flying through the WorldWide Telescope universe is a little like cruising through space on the Starship Enterprise, except the images are real.
