The Lewiston Tribune has asked Billy Jeffrey of Lewiston to write a blog post each Tuesday after the reality show “True Beauty” airs on ABC. Jeffrey is one of 10 contestants on the show which judges people on their physical and (unbeknownst to them) inner beauty.
Subject: True Beauty blog No. 1
Well hello, this is Billy Jeffrey and welcome to my first “True Beauty” blog. First off, if you watched the first episode last night, Thank You! I have received hundreds of emails, myspace and facebook messages and text messages from people here in the valley and around the world and I want you to all know I really appreciate your feedback — positive or negative.
The first episode was pretty much what I thought it was going to be, fast! The opening scene with the luxury cars — I can’t tell you how much fun that was riding in a Lamborghini for the first time. Walking into that party I was terrified. I had no idea what to expect or do for that matter except, well, be myself.
Many of you have been asking me about meeting my competition face to face and my first impression, which was, “Wow, these girls are hot.” Laura Leigh and I seem to hit it off early and I have my work cut out for me with the guys.
I can’t tell you how much footage was actually cut that I thought would be in the first episode. The only complaint I had about the first episode was that it was edited in a way that it made it seem like I said I was voted the “best looking” in high school, which simply isn’t true (I was voted best dressed — lol).
The “challenge” was very surreal. We walk into a doctor’s office and he measures us for beauty? Yeah, right! I wasn’t for or against the doctor’s views because I didn’t know enough about the procedure to make an educated comment. Obviously CJ thought he did. Keep in mind the doctor was real and that is his actual job. Nurse Debbie, on the other hand, was a hired actor.
So, Joel and I win the competition with a “beauty score” of 95. Hadiyyah-Lah and Chelsea end up with what the doctor describes as the lowest scores. At this point, remember, we have no idea on what we are “really” being judged on.
I felt Chelsea did a great job keeping her cool. Hadiyyah-Lah’s reaction was both emotional and disappointing for me, and her, I’m sure. All I can say is I have gotten to know Hadiyyah-Lah outside of the house and she is a very sweet person. She just didn’t handle that situation to the best of her personality. What are your thoughts?
Tune in Monday, Jan. 12, when episode 2 of “True Beauty” airs on ABC.

I was glad to see you show the world that the Lewiston Idaho contestant can show some class compared to the boorish snobs from the big cities. Not to mention it seemed like you were the only one with a job! Judging by the competition, I think you’ll do great!

I have to admit I only watched it because someone local was going to be on it. Not that I know you, but shoot you are representing Lewiston. And from what we saw on the show last night you represented us well. And I loved your comment when you first got into the house about not being in idaho anymore. It was fun to watch. I will have you know that people are voting that you will hook up with either laura or chelsea on the abc website. I know you can’t answer but we will all watch to see how every thing turns out.

to begin, people need to consider that there is a fierce amount of editing that is involved, used for the sole purpose to promote drama. they did quite the job of painting Hadiyyah-Lah as the supreme drama queen…but remember…this is television. on that note…many of my friends commented that with the first episode, that you (Bill) were the only person to not have made any rude or conceited comments. having known you from years ago…i can confidently assure those i know that THAT was not fancy editing. you really are a blended balance of confident and grateful, down-to-earth and modest. i am proud of how classy you came across and i’m certain you will do your parents, your hometown and Idaho proud. i pray you were the winner!!…as we know you absolutely possess True Beauty. i always said God blessed you with amazing beauty…but its who you are that makes you True. good luck and God bless.

Billy,
I have a feeling you win this thing hands down, watching from the sidelines your GNC career, family and ethics, Your a shoe in. For instance you were standing at the limo helping everyone out, that is just who you are, a true gentelman with great roots. In a society where morals and ethics are pretty much out the window, it’s great to see someone like you representing not only yourself but my hometown as well.
Good for you keep up being yourself.

Billy, at what point do you realize/suspect/get/ or wonder if there’s MORE to the challenges and judging than outer beauty???????
“Outer beauty gets your foot in the door but inner beatuty keeps you there”

Congratulations Billy—I think you were, and are a great representative of Lewiston Idaho to show the world out there that our state is NOT spelled Iowa! You exemplified the bearing and manners that I’m sure you were taught by your parents, but is so lacking these days. Maybe some of the viewers will notice that enough to emulate your behavior and the world will be much better for it. I do have one complaint–you may have opened the door to something we residents try to keep closed. We have safely hidden from the boorish overbearing outofstaters that contaminate our mountains until now. Now they all know we have beautiful people with beautiful manners living in a beautiful state and how will we keep from being over run by them? PS It’s true: beauty is in the eye of the beholder
