When Idaho has the ball: Nate Enderle didn’t take many reps at all on Tuesday because he was banged up from Louisiana Tech. The Vandals have stayed in games all season with their vertical passing game, and the running game has taken a back seat in recent weeks because UI has fallen behind so quickly. Fresno State doesn’t have a killer defense and has struggled to force turnovers, but they do enough to allow the offense to win — sound like a certain other team?

When Idaho is on defense: Brace yourselves, as the Ryan Mathews train comes rolling into the Kibbie Dome. Fans get a chance to see one of the best backs in the country this season, and the Idaho D will be meeting him up close and personal. UI has struggled to stop teams the last couple weeks — especially on the ground. The Vandals will need a much better performance from the defensive line to win this game.

Intangibles: The Kibbie Dome was full for the Colorado State game, and this is another 7:30 ESPNU start. Will the crowd be a factor?

Prediction: Don’t be fooled by FSU’s 5-3 record — two of those losses came to Wisconsin and Cincinnati. Mathews should have his way with the Idaho defense, and the question remains what Idaho’s offense can do to compensate. They’ve managed to do enough for the majority of this season, but Fresno State’s defense isn’t a cream puff. Idaho will be forced to stay in this one early, because if they don’t Mathews can eat up plenty of clock and yardage. Guess: Fresno State 38, Idaho 27
