With two games left in his career, Kevin Lopina is a starting quarterback again. And although the circumstances are far from ideal, given Washington State’s spotty pass protection and thinning numbers, K-Lo is also likely to feel less pressure of the abstract variety Saturday against Oregon State than he has ever felt before as a starter. The other QBs won’t be breathing down his neck. The team’s hopes for the season are nil. And two weeks from now lies the rest of his life. If nothing else, the guy should be loose.
Meanwhile, the Cougars’ defense gets more and more skeletal. Jason Stripling and Toby Turpin will both miss the game on disciplinary suspensions, and Dan Spitz is questionable with a concussion.
Kickoff is 2 p.m. at Martin Stadium, where the student section for this pre-Thanksgiving vacation game might be almost as thin as the Cougar D.
