WAC commissioner Karl Benson had his weekly teleconference today and talked about the bowl scenarios. One of those was if Hawaii loses to Wisconsin next week and isn’t bowl eligible. “I think that ….if Hawii isn’t bowl eligible that one would conclude that Fresno State-Nevada will be placed in Hawaii or Albuquerque. We certainly have had that type of discussion with ESPN about that scenario. No decisions have been made.”
Benson also talked about the WAC’s GMAC Bowl option, and was later asked if Idaho could “start printing tickets to the H(umanitarian) Bowl” in Boise.
“I don’t think we’re quite there. And I don’t know if we’re ready to make an announcement until we know who the opponent would be. I think ideally you’d want to be able to make an announcement that has both teams and I don’t think we’re quite ready……on what we expect to be an at-large team.”
