Otis Maloy, of Moscow, and I floated the Kobuk River to hunt caribou. I told him that we also could fish for Sheefish (Inconnu) and to bring a stout rod because they weigh up to 40 pounds. He packed an ultra-light instead and, while casting for whatever would bite, he hooked and actually landed this lunker. Sheefish are also called “tarpon of the north” because of their looks; however they are related to whitefish.

Looks dubious at best I've seen this kind of trick photography before. Old college profs are known for it!

Rick (Salmon River horn hunter): You have given yourself away. Your asertion is unfounded. I actually turned Otis sidewise so as not to distort the size of this lunker. Further, I expect that your best photo submission to the OBB will be a WT buck actually taken by Sandra. Mal Furniss, Moscow
