Walking stick

Posted on: August 27, 2007 10:37 am

Brag Description:

A wingless female Annum walking stick (Baculum extradentatum) in a daytime motionless pose. It will feed at night. A native of Viet Nam, this specimen is from a colony maintained by Frank Merickel at the UI W. F. Barr Entomological Museum (Ag Sci 136) on black berry foliage. In the absence of males, females lay eggs that produce more females. They are docile when handled by visiting school children and are easy to maintain. Mal Furniss photo.
