Stephen Hoch new provost at WSU

PULLMAN -- A historian specializing in modern Russian history has been named the new provost and executive vice president at Washington State
University.
Stephen L. Hoch (pronounced "hawk") will succeed Robert Bates, who will step down after six years on July 1.
Hoch is currently the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky. He earned his bachelor's degree in history from Trinity College in Connecticut and advanced degrees from Princeton. He has also studied abroad, at the L'Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris and at Moscow State University.
The provost is the academic head of the university. As executive vice president, Hoch will also be the chief executive on the WSU Pullman campus.
