Giddings takes Idaho County race

GRANGEVILLE -- Challenger Douglas Giddings, a deputy from Riggins, knocked off incumbent Larry Dasenbrock in the race for the Republican nomination for Idaho County sheriff.
Giddings outpolled Dasenbrock 1,498-1,262 and will now face Democrat Carlos Martinez of Kamiah in the November general election. Martinez, another of Dasenbrock's deputies, was unchallenged in the primary.
James Rockwell, a Grangeville stockbroker, won the Republican nomination for county commission. Rockwell defeated Grangeville businesswoman Dorothy Walker 1,968-615.
Rockwell will now face Shelly K. Dumas of Grangeville in the general election. Dumas was unopposed in the primary.
