10:43 a.m.: Ellen Boatman named Asotin city clerk

November 18, 2008, 10:49 am

By Brandon Macz, of the Tribune

After serving in an interim position for the city of Asotin, Ellen Boatman has been officially given the position as city clerk and treasurer.

The vacancy came when clerk Patti Hansen was terminated for cause from the position in October. Mayor Jim Miller, under counsel from City Attorney Scott Broyles, has declined to disclose the nature of the cause.

Boatman, who was deputy clerk for more than three years, had been serving as interim city clerk since Hansens termination.

"We're pleased and comfortable with her progress and skills," Miller said of Boatman. "That's why we offered her this position."
