Numerical nuggets from the Czar of Series Statistics:
- An ignoble exit for the Stars: In Game 16, Oklahoma City was beaten 14-4 by Lubbock Christian, the most runs allowed by the Stars in 51 Series games.
- Point Loma will try to become the 26th team in 53 years to sweep through the Series. The last team to go undefeated was Lewis-Clark State in 2007.
- Point Loma has a 2-for-1 chance to win the title. Only four times in Series history has a team lost the last two games of a tournament after being the last undefeated team — Lee (2008), Oklahoma City (2003), Lewis-Clark State (1983) and Grambling (1964).
- The Sea Lions will try to become the first team from California to win the championship since 1973 when U.S. International defeated Eastern Connecticut. The last team from the Golden State to make the title tilt, Azusa Pacific, lost to Lewis-Clark State in 1984, the first year the Series was held in Lewiston.
- Lubbock Christian was the last team from Texas to win a title. The Chaparrals beat L-C in 1983 at home in Lubbock.
- Oklahoma City’s two wins gives the Stars 30 all-time, tied for third with Lewis (Ill.). Grand Canyon is second with 31, while L-C leads all teams with 117 victories.
