Lavelle H. Barbee passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Spokane. She was born April 29, 1918, at Pullman, to Harold and Maude Brannon. She graduated in 1936 from Johnson High School and worked at the Top Notch Cafe, going by the name of Blonde.
She then moved to Seattle, where she met John Clevenger and they married in 1960. She worked at Boeing for 14 years, later retiring and moving to Alger, Wash., until 1979 when John died.
Her next move was to Badger Lake, Wash., where she married Bob Barbee in 1982. They later moved to Sprague Lake, Wash., in 1986.
After Bob's death in 1993, she moved to the town of Sprague, Wash., where she resided until her death.
Lavelle enjoyed family, grandchildren, friends, parties, camping, fishing and jokes.
She is survived by daughter, Janet Becker; son, Richard Henson; brother, Al Hatley; stepchildren, Penny Velesco Clevenger, Robert Barbee, Richard Barbee, Penny Barbee and Brice Barbee; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sprague Community Church, Fourth and C streets, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Pullman Cemetery.
Cheney Funeral Chapel of Cheney, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
