MARCH 14

Community Enrichment Classes information open house, 5-7 p.m., Whitman County Library, 102 S. Main St., Colfax. The open house will provide information about classes at the library via the Community Colleges of Spokane, including topics such as history, culture, wellness, music and art.

"Painting What's Inside," a mixed media workshop for adults taught by Wes Hanson, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Artisans at the Dahmen Barn, 419 N. Park Way, Uniontown. This mixed-media workshop will focus on develop skills needed to create paintings that reveal the artistic voice and viewpoint. The Art-O-Mat, a longterm installation created by Clark Whittington, Compton Union Building Gallery, Washington State University, Pullman. Presentation by creator will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the CUB auditorium. The Art-O-Mat is a retired cigarette vending machine converted to sell art, and the idea behind the machine is to make art accessible and affordable. Each piece in the machine will be available for $5.

"Hope in Hard Times: Washington During the Great Depression," traveling exhibit, Asotin County Library, 417 Sycamore St., Clarkston. Exhibit focuses on adversity of everyday Americans, comparing struggles of the 1930s to today and features 10 interpretive panels with stories, photographs and artwork from Washington's past. The exhibit also will feature book discussion groups, films, presentations and musical programs.
