PULLMAN - The classic musical "Guys and Dolls" opens tonight at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse.
The cast of more than 20 will take stage in the production of the play set in the New York gambling life of the 1940s.
The story is based on Damon Runyon's Broadway fables and boasts a musical score by Frank Loesser featuring clever, singable songs such as "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat," "Luck Be a Lady" and "A Bushel and a Peck."
The original Broadway production of the play opened in 1950 and won the 1951 Tony Award for Best Musical. The 1995 movie starred Marlon Brando as Sky Masterson, Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit, Jean Simmons as Sarah Brown and Vivian Blaine as Miss Adelaide.
The production is being directed by John Rich of Pullman. Performances are at 7:30 tonight, Saturday, Thursday, next Friday, April 17 and 22-24; with two matinees at 2:30 p.m. April 17 and 24. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children; or $17 for adults and $10 for children at the door.
All shows are staged at the theater at 122 N. Grand Ave.
