Bacon, eggs and pancakes are staples of any respectable breakfast restaurant, but it takes more than that to be successful.

Atmosphere is key and no one knows atmosphere like Hazel's Good Eats in Clarkston, which is one of the reasons why it took the 360 Reader's Choice title for Best Breakfast Spot.

Manager Melinda Hamilton attributes Hazel's continuous success to the light energy of the staff, the unique decorations and, of course, good food.

This is the second 360's win for Hazel's in the Best Breakfast Spot category and it has not been taken for granted.

"It's pretty amazing!" Hamilton said. "We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into what we do."

Hazel's has a high number of older clientele but the amount of younger customers is rising, Hamilton said, adding the restaurant's consistency and the heart that all of the staff puts into it is what keeps people coming back.

With the permission of owners Sam and Marla Worrell, Hamilton has started planning a photo wall to recognize regular costumers, both past and present.

Hazel's Good Eats received 35 percent of the votes (469 votes) in the poll. Finalists include Waffles n' More in Lewiston, with 32 percent (420 votes), and Main Street Grill in Lewiston, with 17 percent (228 votes).

New contest: Best Burger Joint - with voting from Saturday-Aug. 14.
