Moscow firm listed among nation's fastest growing

MOSCOW- Inc. Magazine has named Economic Modeling Specialists Inc. in Moscow to its list of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in America, a first-time distinction for the economics firm.

EMSI climbed to No. 409 after two consecutive years of being recognized on the Inc. 5,000 list. It is the only company from Idaho or southeastern Washington in the rankings.

Last year EMSI was ranked 1,938th by Inc., which uses 3-year percentage revenue growth to assemble the list.

EMSI serves a growing number of organizations in higher education, economic/workforce development, government, and the private sector by providing labor market and economic analysis tools and services. The company's flagship product, Strategic Advantage, currently is used by more than 2,700 professionals across the U.S.

It is a Web-based tool that interprets and analyzes labor market and demographic data for any geographic area in the United States.

Last year, EMSI introduced new services such as the Job Finder tool, which blends labor market data, current job postings, and occupational skills analysis to help job seekers locate new opportunities.

Entrepreneur starts on-site oil change business

A former pizza delivery driver has opened a new business that spares consumers the hassle of taking their vehicle to a garage for an oil change.

Lightening Mobile Lube does oil changes for customers at their homes, or, with their bosses' permission, at their places of employment anywhere in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.

The service is offered by appointment seven days a week. "I carry all my tools in my pickup with me," said Andrew Davis, the owner of the home-based business. "It's saving people a little bit of time waiting in line."
