PULLMAN - Retention of emergency room physicians is one of the reasons the chief medical officer at Pullman Regional Hospital received a statewide honor from Seattle Business magazine.
Richard Caggiano, a physician, was a silver award winner in the category of health care professionals.
Caggiano has hired 11 emergency department physicians for the hospital since 1998 and all of them are still with the hospital, according to Seattle Business magazine.
The doctors are board certified in emergency medicine, having passed written and oral exams in that speciality, according to the magazine.
Plus, the emergency room deals with patients efficiently, according to the magazine. The average wait time is less than 15 minutes and most patients have completed their care in the emergency room within 21/2 hours, according to the magazine.
