Earlinia Scott of Clarkston calls the flourishing interest in quilting a revival.
Quilt guilds are bursting at the seams with new and old members as more people become inspired to pick up a needle and thread and learn the early-day craft.
Scott started quilting a dozen years ago and now teaches classes on hand appliqueé. She’s also the featured quilter at the Seaport Quilters’ show this weekend, held in conjunction with the Lewis-Clark Dogwood Festival.

Cal Groen takes Dutch oven cooking seriously and has the credentials to prove it.
The 57-year-old Clearwater Regional supervisor for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has honed his skills to the point he swept the categories at the 2002 Department of Fish and Game Bureau of Wildlife Dutch Oven Cook-off held at Dworshak Reservoir near Orofino.
Competing against more than a dozen cookers, Groen was named overall champion for his Chukar and Rice, Fruit Crisp, and Garlic Cheddar Biscuits — recipes he generously agreed to share with readers.
