The Task Force on Higher Education has come up with an admirable plan, but its success depends on a coalition of educators, big business and the general public, according to Lewis-Clark State College President Lee Vickers.

Vickers said Wednesday that he is satisfied with the task force’s final recommendations, in particular, elimination of a provision that would have required the college at Lewiston to review the status of its upper division courses in five years.

“Eliminating that recommendation puts LCSC in the same postion as other institutions and that’s all we’ve really asked for,” he said.

MOSCOW — Dennis Erickson, The coach of the University of Idaho football team, is one of three coaches selected to coach the West team in the Japan Bowl, Jan. 16, for collge seniors.

Erickson joins Ted Tollner of Southern California and Lou Holtz of Arkansas as the coaches for the West team.

Idaho quarterback Ken Hobart is being considered for a spot on the West roster at the Japan Bowl. Hobart, according to the Spokane Chronicle newspaper, is also being considered for the East-West Shrine game and possibly other all-star games.
