50th anniversary: Phyllis and Lee Squire

The Orofino couple will be honored with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. today in the Riverside Room at the Lodge at River's Edge in Orofino. The occasion is their 50th anniversary.

He and Phyllis Coon were married Oct. 4, 1958, in Cleveland.

She was a legal secretary for her husband until 1999 and also was co-owner of Stitch in Time for many years until it closed in the mid-'90s. Both were in Orofino.

He was in the U.S. Navy for 22 years and retired from the military in 1979. He graduated from the University of Idaho Law School at Moscow in 1985 and was a general practice attorney from 1985 to 1999 in Orofino. He served as a Clearwater County judge from 1999 to 2005.

The couple have three daughters and four grandchildren.

Both are members of the Kiwanis Club in Orofino. She also is a member of the Hit and Miss club and the Orofino-Peck United Methodist Church. He also is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Marine Corps League and is the senior residential facility ombudsman. All are in Orofino.

The couple enjoy camping and reading. Her other hobbies include needlework and cooking and he also likes to travel.

The couple's daughters will be hosts for the event.
