Lewiston-Clarkston Lions Club

Tim Rivers presided over the club’s May 22 meeting with nine members present and three guests.

The program featured Mary Kress discussing her role in charge of the blood donation program at the Red Cross’ Lewiston office and gave a brief history of the organization.

Jim Knauss, who works in disaster services for the Red Cross, and his wife Julia who volunteers, discussed the many other services provided by the organization. He said the Red Cross pays travel and lodging costs for volunteers who go to disaster sites.

Fred Schmidt presented Jim Luper with his 50-year membership chevron. Schmidt was sponsored by Luper when he joined the club, and Luper will now have his club membership fees paid for life.

Members discussed the recent parking event with the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, and the two clubs will share about $1,800. The next parking event is the bullriding event June 15 at the Lewiston Roundup grounds. Rivers passed around a signup sheet, which also included a monster trucks event June 29.

Jeanne Poxleitner passed around a rough draft of the 2024-25 club roster and asked people to make corrections as needed. She wants everyone to have a copy of the draft membership list to use over the summer.

Members voted to approve Dave Poxleitner for membership.

Tail Twister Judy Hasson auctioned off an item, which was won by William Long for $4.

The club will not hold meetings in June and July and will next meet for a barbecue Aug. 28 to prepare for parking at the Lewiston Roundup.
