Carol A. Bennett, director of the Clarkston Center of Walla Walla Community College, has been chosen to participate in the "Leaders" program.
The program is a year-long national leadership training program for women administrators and faculty in higher education.
As part of the program, a special workshop for "Leaders" is designed to enhance the skills that participants need to assume major decision-making roles in their institutions.
The workshop includes instruction and practice in supervisory and human relations skills, planning and budgeting and organizational transformation.
Also featured will be discussions with national experts on the issues confronting higher education during the next decade.
PULLMAN Washington State University electrical engineering Professor Thomas Fischer's work in electronic signal processing and data compression has earned him election to the rank of Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The institute is an international professional organization of nearly 250,000 members.
Fischer works with strings of algorithms and mathematical procedures that turn voice, data and images into codes that can be digitally transmitted or stored.
Fischer joined WSU in 1989.
