ST. JOHN, Wash. — A small wildland fire west of St. John was put out Sunday afternoon.

Whitman County Emergency Management Director Bill Tensfeld said the blaze started on Gordon Hamilton Road and grew to less than an acre.

He said while the fire threatened a home and shop buildings, no structures were burned and no one was hurt.

Whitman County District 2 St. John firefighters were assisted by District 5 Lamont volunteers, he said.
