Two home-schooled students from Nezperce were winners in the Northwest Region level of the Fleet Reserve Association's Americanism essay contest.
Carmen Koepl placed first in the eighth-grade category, and Sandra Koepl came in second in the 11th-grade contest. First-place winners have been entered in the national competition. Results will be announced May 15.

Lisa Davis of Moscow has been named a Collegiate All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy.
Davis, a Genesee High School graduate, attends Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston on a volleyball scholarship. Her parents are Kevin and Karen Davis of Moscow.
