An Arbor Day tree planting and park land dedication is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewiston’s Modie Park, 1035 21st Ave.

The event is in recognition of Lewiston’s Tree City USA status, and the park land dedication will recognize the donation of 21 acres to the Modie Park Conservancy. The land was donated in 2023 by Kent Randall and Sara Ghisletta and will be officially dedicated as the Doug and Susan Randall Reserve to Ruth Rowell Modie Park.

The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Modie Park was officially recognized as a city park in 1996. The Randall Reserve will more than double the size of the park.

To reach the site of the ceremonies, follow the Regence BlueShield Fitness Path, which is a short distance south of the Modie Park restroom and parking lot at 1035 21st Ave., to the picnic shelter. The site can also be reached from the cul-de-sac in the 2400 block of 13th Street.

A brief membership meeting will follow the ceremony, and all conservancy members are urged to attend. There will also be an opportunity to meet Kent Randall and Sara Ghisletta.

The event is being organized by the City of Lewiston Urban Forestry Commission, Lewis-Clark State College Arboretum Committee and Modie Park Conservancy.
