Parenting programs to be at UI
MOSCOW Two parenting programs will be featured at the University of Idaho Women's Center noon programs.
Lisa Litton, a certified nurse midwife, and Pam Palmer, childbirth educator at Pullman Memorial Hospital, will moderate a panel discussion of "Childbirth Choices" on Tuesday.
The panel will discuss childbirth experiences, birthing centers, home versus hospital births, and selecting physicians and midwives.
On Wednesday Ginna Babcock, UI Sociology Department, will discuss "Distance Parenting" by comparing the findings of two of her research projects, "Fathers on the Outside" and "Long-Distance Mothers."
Babcock explores current cultural beliefs about parenting and the legal climate for non-custodial parents, in addition to looking at stereotypes like "Disney Dads" and "lousy" non-custodial moms.
Women's Center programs are free and open to the public. The programs begin at 12:30 p.m. in the center's lounge.
