Beatrice M. Armstrong, a longtime Lewiston homemaker, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 14, 2003, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She was 98.

She was born March 18, 1905, in Sauk Center, Minn., to James and Margaret Yarno.

Beatrice and Edgar A. Armstrong were married June 30, 1926, in Duluth, Minn. They moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 1933 from Potlatch, Idaho. She loved gardening and sewing. Her life was centered around her children and her church. She was a charter member of Valley Christian Center and taught Sunday school for many years. She prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Phyllis and Jim Hamann of Kirkland, Wash., Lois and Jerry McGinnis of Whidbey Island, Wash., Donna and Stan Cook of Mill Creek, Wash., and Verna and Denny Faris of Dallas, Ore.; one son and his wife, Arvid and Velma Armstrong of Lewiston; a half sister, Margie Hapfner of Englewood, Fla.; a half brother, Ivan Yarno of Portland, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 20, 1990, two sisters, one half sister and three half brothers.

The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston. Her son-in-law, the Rev. Jim Hamann, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Malcom's Funeral Home in Lewiston.
