The Burgdorf Junction Fire near the Salmon River in the Payette National Forest is 56 percent contained, according to forest officials Saturday evening.
The fire so far has burned more than 3,200 acres. Forest officials expect to have the fire contained as early as July 30.
Fire crews saw wind gusts of 50 miles per hour Saturday afternoon that caused the fire to move about six air miles in less than three hours. Helicopters were grounded because of the high winds.
The westside of Secesh Meadows subdivision was evacuated as a precautionary measure. As of Saturday afternoon no structures had been damaged by the fire.
The Warren Wagon Road, from Burgdorf Junction to Secesh Meadows is temporarily closed because of increased smoke and fire related traffic. Twelve engines were stationed along the road, putting out spot fires and keeping the fire from reaching Warren Wagon Road, according to officials.
The head of the fire was seen near Union Lake.
A total of 668 personnel are on the fire, including crews from Logan, Utah, LaGrande, Ore., and Alaska. There are 14 engines and seven helicopters working to control the blaze.
