MOSCOW - The Idaho State Police has issued a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter citation against the woman who allegedly struck and killed a man on U.S. Highway 95 during a snowstorm last month.

According to the state police, Alisha Nielson, 32, of Lewiston, lost control of her 2009 Volkswagen Jetta the morning of Feb. 25 while she was northbound down Reisenauer Hill on the highway. The vehicle struck Shane Moyer, 34, of Lewiston, as he was putting tire chains on his tractor-trailer, which had stopped on the southbound shoulder.

A Medstar helicopter airlifted Moyer to a Spokane hospital, where he died two days later.

Nielson is set to appear in Latah County Magistrate Court at 8 a.m. March 27. The charge is punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.
