The trial for a Clarkston man accused of assault has been canceled as the two sides are reportedly nearing a resolution in the case.
Robert A. Henrie, 31, turned himself in to the Nez Perce County Jail Sept. 10 after an incident in which he allegedly hit a 30-year-old woman with an aluminum Maglite and a baseball bat, according to court records. The woman told Lewiston police Henrie showed up at her mother's apartment on Miller Street in Lewiston to pick up some of his things and a fight erupted over his cellphone.
The trial has been rescheduled for Feb. 18, but Henrie's defense attorney, Scott Chapman, said he anticipated the case would be settled after mediation.
"We do have a very good chance of resolving it," he said.
