GRANGEVILLE - Two Idaho County men died in separate vehicle accidents in different parts of the county over the weekend.
Timothy Hickam, 69, of White Bird, was killed about 2 p.m. Sunday when his pickup truck loaded with wood lost its brakes while driving downhill to his residence, the Idaho County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.
The vehicle went airborne and collided with the carport of Hickam's residence at 167 Deer Creek Road. Hickam was pronounced dead at the scene.
A grandson who was with Hickam in the pickup truck was airlifted by Life Flight to an unnamed hospital with unknown injuries, the sheriff's office reported. The man was not identified.
In the second accident, Earl (Scotty) Knight, 73, of Kamiah, was reported overdue from a solo all-terrain vehicle ride about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.
Idaho County sheriff's deputies and the Idaho County Sheriff's Posse responded and prepared to begin a search when a family member returned from a search and reported that Knight had been found and was dead.
According to the sheriff's office, evidence suggests Knight encountered a tree across the trail and was attempting to turn around on a steep slope when the vehicle rolled on top of him.
No further information was available Monday afternoon.
