Former Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee Chairwoman Rebecca Miles was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a 2005 BMW sedan driven by her sister Justine Miles crashed near Plummer, according to the Idaho State Police.

Rebecca Miles, 35, was treated and released from Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, according to hospital spokeswoman Kim Anderson. Rebecca Miles is currently a NPTEC board member.

Justine Miles, who was uninjured, was arrested for driving under the influence, according to a police report. She is a member of the NPTEC health board.

District 1 ISP Trooper Pete Moyle said Justine Miles' blood alcohol level wasn't available Wednesday. He said Rebecca Miles had already been flown from the accident scene by the time he arrived, and didn't have any details on her injuries.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday, Justine Miles, 36, was driving north on U.S. Highway 95 when the BMW went off the right shoulder, hit a guardrail, came back across the roadway and smashed through a guardrail on the other side of the road, according to an ISP news release.

The car then hit a tree, where it stopped, according to the ISP report. Rebecca Miles owns the car, according to her youngest sister Delores Miles of Lapwai.

The news release indicates Rebecca Miles was flown by MedStar helicopter to Coeur d'Alene. ISP was assisted at the accident scene by the Benewah County Sheriff's Office.
