The air quality is expected to remain less than ideal for the remainder of the week, but organizers for Lewiston's Hot August Nights said all scheduled events are still a go.

"We obviously know (the smoke) might affect attendance at the event a little bit, especially on Saturday when a lot of families come down, but everything will still be taking place as planned," said Breanne Durham, executive director of Beautiful Downtown Lewiston.

Hot August Nights is running today through Saturday with car shows, a cruise and concert (see related story).

Durham said a lot of downtown businesses will be open and catering to the attendees.

"(We) are encouraging attendees to go into those businesses and get a break from the smoke," Durham said. "That's a great way to be downtown and not necessarily be in the smoke the whole time."

As for Saturday's concert featuring Colbie Caillat, the general manager of Pacific Empire Radio - which produces the event - said the show is still on schedule as planned.

"We talked with (Caillat's) people and everything is still a go as of right now," Ben Bonfield said.

He said if conditions worsen, canceling is a possibility.

Friday night's cruise on Main Street isn't expected to be hampered by the construction projects on nearby Ninth Street, Durham said. She said the city has had the car show in mind since the beginning of construction and will have the Main and D street loop cleared for all vehicles participating in the cruise.
