Four organizations providing services to the homeless in Lewiston and Moscow netted $101,799 from the Idaho Housing Agency's federal Emergency Shelter Grant program.

The YWCA and Community Action Agency at Lewiston and Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse and the YWCA of the Palouse in Moscow received more than 26 percent of the ESG funds in 1995.

The CAA used portions of the grant towards the Family Development Program, which helps families become self-sufficient.

Maintenance costs and utility bills will be paid by the Lewiston YWCA's portion of the grant.

A portion of the grant to YWCA of the Palouse will be used to upgrade the organization's data keeping process, which will give more information about clients who are homeless.

The grant will be used to expand services such as a 24-hour crisis hotline, legal and medical advocacy, victim transportation and gas vouchers and a new security system at Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse.
