A district judge sentenced a Coeur d'Alene man to at least seven years in prison Thursday for the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old Lewiston girl.
Derek D. Holder, 28, formerly of Lewiston, could spend as long as 25 years behind bars under a sentence ordered by 2nd District Judge Carl B. Kerrick.
A Nez Perce County jury convicted Holder in January of felony lewd conduct with a child younger than 16. Documents filed in Lewiston's 2nd District Court charged an incident that occurred on Feb. 13, 2009, in a bedroom at Holder's home, though prosecutors alleged the abuse took place from October 2008 to February 2009.
In addition to handing down the seven- to 25-year prison sentence, Kerrick ordered Holder to pay court costs and a $5,000 fine to the victim in the case. Holder must also register as a sex offender.
