WENATCHEE - Minutes after learning Tuesday night that he will retain his position, Mayor Frank Kuntz was more than ready to move on from the elections and get back to work.

"I'm glad it's over," he said. "I'm thrilled with the numbers. Obviously the community thinks we're moving in the right direction."

Kuntz captured 3,293 votes, or nearly 65 percent of the vote, defeating Councilor Bryan Campbell, who received 1,581 votes, or 31 percent.

Both Kuntz and Campbell were at the Chelan County Courthouse Tuesday night to hear election results from Auditor Skip Moore, who has a tradition of reading the results aloud before handing out printed copies.

In the only contested Wenatchee City Council race, Mike Poirier handily defeated Donald Ovitt, who attempted to withdraw his candidacy but did so too late to get his name off the ballot. Poirier got just less than 56 percent of the vote to Ovitt's 16 percent.
