MOSCOW - New boilers, lighting upgrades, cooling system replacements, bicycle stations and development of a long-term energy efficiency strategy will be the result of $151,500 in federal stimulus money coming to Latah County, officials reported.

The dollars have been allocated by the federal Department of Energy through an energy efficiency and conservation block grant, according to a news release. The grant program is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

A total of $125,500 will be spent, county officials said, on installation of high-efficiency boilers in the county courthouse, jail and McConnell Mansion. Replacements and upgrades of the courthouse cooling system will also be done. Interior and exterior lighting upgrades are scheduled at the courthouse and county fairgrounds.
