A Lewiston man accused of rape turned himself in to authorities early Tuesday morning.

Peter H. Bakker, 19, turned himself in shortly after midnight at the Nez Perce County Jail, Lewiston Police Capt. Tom Greene said. Bakker posted surety on a $25,000 bond Tuesday morning and was released from jail.

Bakker has been charged with one count of rape for an incident alleged to have occurred July 30 involving a female younger than 18, according to police. A warrant was issued Monday for his arrest.

A hearing for Bakker has been scheduled for Friday in Lewiston's 2nd District Court. A no-contact order has also been established between Bakker and the alleged victim.
