A 24-year-old Lewiston woman died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Lewiston, according to the Lewiston Police Department.
Alyssa Slusher died after the motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger lost control and struck a parked car near the intersection of 14th Street and 14th Avenue, according to a police news release.
The initial investigation showed a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle operated by James Weese, 25, of Orofino, was northbound on 14th Street when it lost control and struck a parked car around 1:20 p.m. Sunday. Both Weese and Slusher, who was riding as a passenger, were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the news release.
Both people were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Slusher died at the hospital; Weese was taken to a Spokane hospital via Life Flight.
The Lewiston Police Major Collision Investigation Team responded to the crash. That unit closed a portion of 14th Street for three and a half hours while conducting its investigation, according to the news release.
Weese and Slusher were both wearing helmets, according to the news release.
The crash remains under investigation. Those with information about the incident are asked to contact Sgt. Craig Roberts or Officer Chris Smith at (208) 746-0171.
