A 24-year-old Lewiston woman died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Lewiston, according to the Lewiston Police Department.

Alyssa Slusher died after the motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger lost control and struck a parked car near the intersection of 14th Street and 14th Avenue, according to a police news release.

The initial investigation showed that a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle operated by James Weese, 25, of Orofino, was northbound on 14th Street when it lost control and struck a parked car at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday. Both Weese and Slusher, who was riding as a passenger, were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the news release.

Both people were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Slusher died at the hospital; Weese was taken to a Spokane hospital via Life Flight.

The Lewiston Police Major Collision Investigation Team responded to the crash. That unit closed a portion of 14th Street for three and a half hours while conducting its investigation, according to the news release.

Weese and Slusher were both wearing helmets, according to the news release.
