Slide briefly blocks road between Juliaetta and Kendrick
JULIAETTA - A mud slide Sunday briefly blocked a section of Idaho State Highway 3 between Kendrick and Juliaetta.
The slide occurred at about 6 p.m. and took one hour to clear, according to a Latah County Sheriff's dispatcher.
Elsewhere in the region, one to two inches of water covered a 25-foot section of Washington State Route 27 one mile south of the town of Garfield.
Winchester man struck and killed by pickup truck
WINCHESTER - A pedestrian is dead after an accident Sunday on U.S. Highway 95 just north of Winchester.
Shawn J. Cody, 47, of Winchester was walking on the north shoulder of the road at about 12:35 p.m., according to a news release from the Idaho State Police.
"Cody entered the roadway and was struck by a gold 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by Jimmie R. Eckwortzel, 70, of Lucile," according to the news release.
Cody was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release. The incident is still under investigation.
Fire in Moscow sends one to hospital
MOSCOW - One person was taken by ambulance to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow after a fire at an apartment
complex.
Authorities were alerted of the kitchen grease fire in the second story of the building in the 200 block of Taylor Avenue in Moscow at 8:33 a.m. Sunday, according to a Whitcom dispatcher.
No additional details were available Sunday.
