Jury trial set in death of Lewiston man
A jury will decide June 16 if Kyle N. Rios, 24, is guilty of vehicular manslaughter and one felony count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident for his role in the crash that killed Lewiston mill worker Paul W. Stuk.
An order setting the jury trial was filed Thursday in 2nd District Court. Rios pleaded innocent to both charges at this week's arraignment.
Rios is accused of driving while intoxicated when his Toyota Prius was struck by a Geo Metro driven by Stuk at the intersection of East Main and 21st streets resulting in the death of Stuk.
Witnesses said Rios attempted to flee the scene. His blood alcohol level was .263, more than three times the legal limit, according to a police forensic report.
