Area activities set for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The Lewiston-Clarkston Valley will be the location of several activities for Sexual Assault Awareness Month during April.

Members of the Quality Behavioral Health Community Sexual Assault Program and the YWCA are sponsoring the following activities in the valley to help raise awareness for residents.

- Denim Day, April 22 - "It's not a fashion statement, it's a social statement." Community members asked to wear denim in honor of an alleged 1999 sexual assault victim who lost her case because she was wearing jeans.

- Walk Away From Violence Walk - 5 p.m. April 28 at Gateway Park in Clarkston.

- Latte and Learn Campaign - Area coffee shops will put sexual assault facts and statistics on cups during the month of April.

- Teal Ribbon Campaign - Teal ribbons honoring survivors will be displayed throughout the area.
