Judge delays trial for man accused of murder
The murder trial for Patrick J. Nuxoll may not be set until next summer, as prosecutors and defense attorneys wait on DNA evidence in the case that they do not expect to be reviewed until early next year.
Second District Judge Jeff M. Brudie on Wednesday canceled a Feb. 16 trial date and ordered a Jan. 13 status conference in the case. He also planned to set a bond later this week for Nuxoll, 53, of Lewiston. Nuxoll has pleaded innocent to a charge of first-degree murder in the May death of his drinking buddy, 63-year-old David W. Cramer of Lewiston.
Lewiston police detectives allege Nuxoll killed Cramer May 21 during a drinking bout at Nuxoll's 927 Linden Ave. home by slashing his friend 128 times with kitchen knives, according to court records. Nuxoll told detectives his friend committed suicide.
Nuxoll has been held in the Nez Perce County Jail for almost six months without bond.
