BILLINGS, Mont. - A Billings man who was arrested in Colorado on suspicion of killing his great-grandmother in July continues to fight extradition.

The Billings Gazette reported 19-year-old Robert Alan Thompson refused again Monday to waive extradition to Montana. Thompson refused to waive extradition two weeks ago, as well, and remains in custody in Denver on suspicion of deliberate homicide in the July 19 beating and stabbing death of 77-year-old Shirley Lawrence.

Thompson was arrested in Denver on July 20 while driving his grandmother's car.

Yellowstone County Attorney Scott Twito said his office has obtained a governor's warrant from Montana Gov. Steve Bullock's office seeking to return Thompson to Billings and is waiting for Colorado's governor to sign it.

After that, authorities have as long as 60 days to return Thompson to Montana.
