TACOMA Marie Turpin Amundson, 83, a former Bovill area resident, died here Jan. 12 of cancer.

She was born Feb. 12, 1912, at Ely, Minn., to Tom and Mary Decarufel. They moved to Idaho when she was young.

She married John Turpin at Orofino and they later divorced.

She raised her children in the Bovill-Deary area.

She married Harold Amundson in 1961 at Coeur d'Alene. They lived most of their life together in Washington state.

She enjoyed spending time with family members and friends and particularly telling stories around a campfire.

Survivors include her husband of Tacoma; one daughter, Nita Vincent of Tacoma; two sons, Tom Turpin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jim Turpin of Moscow; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and Mass will be held later this year at St. Maries, where she will be buried.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
