Nez Perce County Commission Chairman Earl J. Ferguson was resting at home Friday night after breaking his leg in three places in a fall Friday morning.
Ferguson said he was leaving the Ramada Inn after having breakfast with a friend and slipped on the ice. "My feet became wheels instead of platforms for standing on,'' he said.
Bones were broken in two places just below his right knee and once near his right ankle, Ferguson said.
Surgery wasn't necessary. The leg will be in a splint for about five days and then a cast, Ferguson said.
He expects to be back at work Monday, at least for the afternoon commission meeting.
"Business must go on,'' Ferguson said.
