Preliminary autopsy results in two deaths that occurred in separate incidents Friday have turned up nothing that would indicate foul play or abuse, Lewiston Police Capt. Thomas Greene said Wednesday.

A death of a 1-month-old baby boy who died Friday morning at a downtown residence is tentatively believed to be accidental, Greene said. The infant was in bed with his parents, and when they woke up the child was blue. There was no indication of abuse, he said.

The parents called for help, and emergency personnel started CPR, which was continued until they arrived at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

A few hours later, a woman in her mid-50s was found in her Southway Avenue apartment by her husband, who was arriving from out of town.

"Our suspicions are that it's some kind of natural causes," Greene said, but that won't be known for sure until the medical examiner's report is finished.

In both cases, final reports can take several weeks, he said.
